It was a pleasure working with the Hatch Homes team. From the first step to the last, they were attentive and left me at ease. The put the life back into my old home. They replaced my siding, performed repairs to damages, replaced sheathing, installed insulation, installed new windows (including repositions and adding new windows) and replacing my door with a larger door and staining. I get endless compliments on how great it looks. I included some before and after photos. White is before and green is after. Starting with Lin and working through the design process, she listened and understood what I needed and made recommendations and provided options for me to compare and use to appropriately budget. Providing estimate of different design decisions and ways I can get what I was looking for. that fit in my budget and gave me the look I was looking for. We came up with a combination of board and batten with shingled gables. She even gave me estimates on potential additions that could be needed like needing to replace sheathing on exterior so that I would not be blindsided if it came up JW was the project manager and he was always responsive, attentive and courteous. Working with JW was a breath of fresh air after I had another contractor whose project manager was barely there and took days or something never responded to my messages or calls. I was given expectations on start time and timeline and he did everything he could to keep the project on schedule. With an old home like mine, issues do come up. When they did, he made sure I was immediately informed and provided transparent pricing. He was flexible and adjusted to accommodate changes and add ons I needed or wanted to make on the project. He was on-site a few times a week to make sure the crew was executing as expected. He truly made you feel at ease. The entire crew was great. They were knowledgeable and if they came across something they brought it to my attention and explained what they thought needed to be done and followed up with JW. They were on time, worked hard and were always professional on site. They would check with me if I was there to make sure it was what I wanted and adjusted if it wasn't. I am happy with how my home has been transformed. Hatch homes also provided daily reports for what was done and pictures so you can see the progress whether or not I was there. I would recommend Hatch Homes for your exterior project needs. From the design process to the finish of project, everyone I interacted with was professional, transparent and left me at ease with confidence that the they cared for my home and would do a good job.Posted on Google![]()

Hatch Homes just completed my vinyl siding replacement with Hardie Board siding. From start to finish, working with Hatch Homes was a wonderful experience. Their detailed estimate showed every little detail that needed to be done. Their installers were perfectionists - they made sure everything was exactly right. They were real artists - not just nail bangers! See before picture (vinyl siding) and after pictures (Hardie Board).Posted on Google![]()

Hatch Homes renovated the exterior of two homes for us with Hardy Board. They do great work which is why I contracted them a second time. As the owner, I felt informed and appreciated. They have a program to view options on your home in advance which is nice so you can get a pretty good idea of what colors and styles of siding would look like. Yorin was in charge of this latest project and he is excellent to work with.Posted on Google![]()

My husband and I have built our dream home ourselves, from the floor plans and elevations, to the framing and the rough-ins and everything. However, we knew that siding was going to be too much for us to take on given the height of the house and the number of specialized tools you need. We called Hatch early in the process and they worked with us to quote us on different siding materials so we could make an informed decision. We ended up with Ascend by Allside in Laguna blue and PVC trim and molding around the windows and doors, corners and skirt board on the bottom. We could not be happier with the result! The foreman and crew were very polite and professional, knowledgeable, and patient with our questions! I would not hesitate to recommend them, and have to several folks already!

Frequently Asked Questions: Siding Installation in Charleston, SC
How much does siding replacement cost in Charleston, SC?
Full home siding replacement in Charleston generally ranges from $25,000 to $50,000+, depending on home size, siding material, trim work, and high-wind fastening requirements. Standard vinyl sits at the lower end of the spectrum, while engineered materials like James Hardie fiber cement and composite cladding fall into the mid-to-higher range due to material density and labor requirements.
What is the best siding material for coastal Charleston weather?
James Hardie fiber cement and ASCEND composite cladding are ideal for Charleston’s coastal climate. Unlike standard vinyl, which can warp under severe heat, or natural wood, which rots in high humidity and attracts termites, fiber cement resists tropical wind forces up to 130 mph, salt spray degradation, moisture rot, and pest infestation.
Are there specific siding requirements for historic homes in Downtown Charleston?
Yes. Homes located in historic districts overseen by the Board of Architectural Review, such as South of Broad, Harleston Village, or French Quarter—must adhere to strict historical material standards. James Hardie smooth fiber cement and custom trim profiles are frequently approved for renovation projects because they mirror historic wood lap siding while offering superior fire and moisture resistance.
How long does a full siding installation take on a Lowcountry home?
Most residential siding installations in Charleston take 1 to 3 weeks to complete. Timeline variables include house size, weather conditions (such as coastal afternoon rainstorms), scaffolding needs for elevated or multi-story homes, and structural pre-repairs like replacing rot in sub-framing or soffits.
Does Hatch Homes handle exterior remodeling across the Lowcountry?
Yes. From the office located at 460 King Street in Downtown Charleston, Hatch Homes provides exterior remodeling, including siding, window replacement, and roofing, across Mount Pleasant, James Island, Johns Island, West Ashley, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, and Summerville.
How does Hatch Homes handle rotted framing found during siding removal?
Because humidity, salt air, and driving rain often cause hidden sub-wall damage, Hatch Homes performs a full exterior substrate inspection after removing old siding. Our team repairs moisture-damaged sheathing, replaces soft framing studs, and installs continuous house wrap (water-resistive barriers) and rainscreen systems before installing new siding to prevent future water intrusion.
Does Hatch Homes offer financing options for siding replacement in Charleston?
Yes. Hatch Homes partners with GreenSky® and Synchrony to provide flexible financing plans for siding, window, and roofing projects. Qualified homeowners can access paperless applications, quick credit decisions, and promotional options including zero-down payment plans, deferred interest options, or fixed low monthly payments.
