When communication is not present, the homeowner does not know the status of their project, when the work will be done,  what days the crew will show up, or the time frame for when the project will be completed. Most agreements for a home remodeling project do not include a formal communication game plan. Since a communication plan is not clear this leads to the homeowner being uncertain, which adds distrust A certain amount of distrust comes from having to believe that the contractor is doing precisely what was discussed during the proposal.
