This 1940’s home was definitely in need of a facelift. It had aluminum siding installed over the original cedar siding. The homeowner was hoping to remove the aluminum siding and restore the cedar underneath, but unfortunately the wood had too much rot to salvage. The homeowner then decided to seek alternate siding options and contacted Hatch Homes.
She knew, living in Wilmington, NC, that she wanted something strong that would withstand the coastal climate. She was considering both fiber cement siding and a good quality vinyl siding. After discussing her project and unique needs, she ultimately chose to go with James Hardie.
Working with her Project Consulatant, our homeowner decided to go with James Hardie’s ColorPlus siding in Deep Ocean. She chose to side the home with horizontal lap and have the gable accented with Board & Batten in the same color. She wanted Arctic White trim as well. Since there was no insulation on the house, she asked that we install that too.
In addition to the siding replacement, the home needed a few windows replaced. Our homeowner went with Lansing 40 Series windows, a solid product at a very reasonable price.
Once the project was underway, our homeowner decided to add a few items to the job. She decided to side her garage with horizontal lap to match the house, as well as have us build some structural columns and install a new entry door.
The resulting look is exactly what our homeowner wanted. The Deep Ocean blue siding is gorgeous and looks great along the coast!
