Our customers purchased this 1920’s house as a vacation home for their family. Closer in town in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, they wanted to improve it’s curb appeal. This unusual house had no less than three different sidings on it – cedar, wood, and vinyl. It was not adequately insulated, and the homeowners knew that whatever underlayment was present would need to be replaced. The porch columns and floor also needed replacing.
The homeowners came into this project with a specific siding and color in mind – James Hardie ColorPlus 7″ exposure horizontal lap siding in Navajo Beige. However, after receiving some complimentary samples and further discussing with our project consultant, they ultimately went with Khaki Brown. They chose James Hardie smooth trim in Arctic White. As for the porch columns, our homeowners purchased them from a local supplier and had the Hatch Homes team install them. For the porch floor, they went with a Trex product called Enhance in the color Toasted Sand.
Our installation team removed all of the old siding and insulated the walls with rolled insulation that the homeowners purchased. They then installed all new sheathing on the entire exterior of the home. The house was then wrapped with weather barrier, and the siding and trim went up shortly thereafter. The new porch columns and floor were also installed.
This house is now a gorgeous vacation home for the family with plenty of curb appeal. The low-maintenance siding and decking will allow the family to vacation worry-free.
