James Hardie Siding

Project Description

Homes located in the mountains of North Carolina are subjected to many weather conditions which can deteriorate siding quickly. Our team received a call in July from a homeowner who had their current siding for over 25 years, but unfortunately despite their efforts to maintain it the moisture and lack of sun damaged their exterior. They were ready to do a full exterior replacement of the siding, trim, soffit, fascia, doors, and the gutter system as well! They knew they wanted James Hardie siding, but were having a difficult time finding a contractor in their region who was familiar with the colorplus product. That is when they stumbled across our company on James Hardie’s find a contractor locator.

We were happy to help provide them with an estimate that matched their project goals. For this property, however, we would not be able to capture a normal Hover report due to the mountain, trees and the architectural style of the home. When this occurs, we are able to schedule our project manager to visit the home and perform a manual measure. Once the manual measure was complete, we were able to reach back out to the homeowners and schedule their online project consultation as well as their proposal walkthrough to follow. The homeowners quickly decided on a siding type and color. However, deciding on the right doors were a bit more of a challenger due to their current door opening and their existing door styles. We were able to find door options with the help of our material supplier, but one of them was going to have to be a custom made size.

We received the phone call that the homeowners wanted to move forward with their project with our company 2 months after the estimating process had begun. We were able to begin their project in November, but had a few weather delay setbacks, as their home is located in the mountains. Once the weather cleared up, we were able to begin the siding demo process. In the remodeling industry, it is very hard to predetermine what we will come across until the siding is fully removed from the walls. In this case, it was discovered that moisture had not only penetrated their siding but the sheathing they had underneath. After communicating this with the homeowners, they agreed the best route would be to remediate any and all wood rot. Once the wood rot was removed and replaced, our siding crew was able to move forward with the siding installation process.

While there were a few hiccups along the way with this remodel, our team was able to complete the full exterior renovation just in time to ring in the new year!
