Like many homes in the greater Greensboro, North Carolina area, the catalyst of this renovation was the rotting & deterioration of 20-year-old Masonite siding. All of the home’s trim components were beginning to delaminate. This trim decay was particularly noticeable along the backyard deck line. After conducting an inspection with the homeowner, Hatch uncovered several ways that the home’s original house siding was installed incorrectly.
The homeowner was interested in learning more about the differences between HardiePlank Siding and Mastic Vinyl Siding but was initially leaning towards vinyl siding due to the material’s cost-effectiveness. However, the property owner opted to reside with cement board because of its durability, low-maintenance, aesthetics and overall return on investment. It was important for the customers to maintain the property’s value as they intended to sell the home in the next five years. Hatch Homes developed a Home Visualizer for the homeowner which made them feel confident that James Hardie’s Evening Blue was the best color selection for the exterior. The customer also opted to remove the use of shutters on the home’s exterior with the goal of achieving a more modern style. Eliminating the shutters also made the house appear larger as the shutters no longer consumed a significant portion of the front facade’s area. This Greensboro, North Carolina remodel was a successful example of maximizing a renovation’s budget while delivering a dramatic before & after transformation.
