The Top Paint Color Trend Predictions of 2020

Interior and exterior paint color trends change every year. The best way to keep up with what’s hot each year is to look at different paint brands’ “Color of the Year.” Throughout the 2000s, the “Color of the Year” concept has become incredibly popular. In December of each year, brands generally release their signature colors for the upcoming 12 months.

Even though we are several months into 2020, now is the ideal time to do some projects around the house. The majority of families around the nation are self-isolating, which means home improvement tasks are high on the list of priorities in many households. Here, you’ll find out what several popular paint brands’ 2020 colors are and how to use them to makeover your Carolina home.

Behr – Behr brand’s “Color of the Year” is called “Back to Nature.” This is an earthy shade of green, inspired by all things outdoors! “Back to Nature” is muted enough to be used in any room of the house and is designed to be calming, like a day spent hiking in the woods. Behr recommends using this hue with other neutrals, such as beige, brown, and cream.

Benjamin Moore – Benjamin Moore selected a shade called “First Light” as its 2020 color of the year. “First Light” is a subtle pale pink hue, inspired by the color of the sky when the sun first begins rising. Benjamin Moore states that “First Light” has both warm and cool tones, so it is surprisingly versatile and can work well in many spaces.

Dunn-Edwards – Lesser-known high-quality paint brand, Dunn-Edwards, chose “Minty Fresh” for its signature color of 2020. “Minty Fresh” is a happy, mint green hue that is sure to bring a smile to your face. It is a great option for bathrooms or powder rooms and would work well as an accent wall in a bedroom.

HGTV Home – Produced by Sherwin-Williams, the HGTV Home paint line chose a pink hue called “Romance” for 2020. Part of HGTV’s “Simply Blissful” collection of paint colors, “Romance” is a blush pink that is designed to be used as a neutral shade in contemporary spaces. It looks especially lovely paired with whitewashed wood accents.

PPG – PPG Paints picked a deep blue named “Chinese Porcelain” as their 2020 “Color of the Year.” This shade was developed to instill a sense of calmness and relaxation. It is a bold choice for any living space and can work especially well in the bedroom, where blue has been shown to improve sleep quality. “Chinese Porcelain” looks great with gold accents.

Sherwin-Williams – Sherwin-Williams opted for the darkest “Color of the Year” this year. “Naval,” as you might expect, is a rich navy shade that is reminiscent of the colors often used in seaside New England homes. Bring a taste of the nautical life into any room of your Carolina home with “Naval.” If you’re using the dark color in a small space, consider doing an accent wall.

Which of these colors are you most likely to use soon? Hopefully, this has inspired you to update the appearance of your house!
